Leisure Club Membership Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction

These Terms & Conditions apply to all Leisure Club memberships purchased at The Grand Hotel, Lytham St Annes (“we”, “our”, “us”). By purchasing a membership, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully before joining.

2. Membership Options

We offer two types of membership:

  • Monthly Membership – paid by automatic monthly subscription, with a minimum term of 12 months.
  • Annual Membership – paid in full upfront for 12 months.

Your membership entitles you to use the Leisure Club facilities in line with our club rules and opening hours, which may vary seasonally.

3. Minimum Term & Renewal

Monthly Memberships

  • The initial minimum commitment is 12 months.
  • After this period, your membership will automatically continue on a rolling monthly basis.
  • You may cancel after the initial term by giving one full calendar month’s written notice.

Annual Memberships

  • Annual memberships are valid for 12 months from the start date.
  • We’ll contact you before your renewal date with the current renewal rate and offer you the option to renew.

4. Payments & Price Changes

  • Payments are processed securely through Stripe, our online payment provider.
  • All prices include VAT unless otherwise stated.
  • Your monthly or annual price will remain fixed during your initial 12-month term.
  • We may review membership prices periodically. If your membership is beyond its minimum term, we’ll give you at least one month’s notice before any price increase takes effect.
  • You will not be charged any increase during your initial 12-month period.
  • We will also provide one month’s notice of any changes to opening hours or operating schedules.

5. Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations are not permitted within the first 12 months of your membership.
  • After the minimum term, you can cancel with one full calendar month’s notice by emailing book@the-grand.co.uk.
  • No refunds or credits are issued for unused portions of a membership term or for non-attendance.

If your membership is cancelled due to a medical condition, relocation, or other exceptional circumstances, we may, at our discretion, consider early termination upon receiving appropriate evidence. An early termination fee may apply in such cases.

6. Refunds

Membership fees are non-refundable once payment has been processed, except where required by law or where we are unable to provide the service for a sustained period (for example, due to prolonged closure of all facilities).

7. Illness or Medical Issues

If you are unable to use the facilities due to illness, injury, or a medical condition, no refund or extension will be provided.
In exceptional circumstances, where a valid medical note is provided confirming you are unable to use the club for a prolonged period, we may agree to terminate your membership early. This may be subject to a termination fee to cover administrative and operational costs.

8. Club Rules & Conduct

Members are expected to use the facilities responsibly and respectfully. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate a membership if behaviour is deemed unsafe, inappropriate, or in breach of club rules.

9. Temporary Closures & Maintenance

We occasionally need to close parts of the Leisure Club for maintenance, refurbishment, or unforeseen repairs to keep facilities safe and well maintained.

  • Full Facility Closure:
    If all Leisure Club facilities (gym, pool, and thermal areas) are unavailable for more than three consecutive days, we will extend your membership by the number of days the full closure continues beyond that period. Refunds will not be issued.
  • Partial Closure:
    If a single facility or item (such as the gym, sauna, steam room, or hot tub) is unavailable, no refund or extension will be applied, provided the remainder of the Leisure Club remains open.
  • Major Feature Closure (Swimming Pool):
    As the swimming pool is a key facility, if it becomes unavailable for more than three consecutive working days, we will offer a membership extension equivalent to the period of closure beyond that timeframe.

We’ll always give as much notice as possible of any planned maintenance or repairs and aim to minimise disruption wherever possible.

10. Member Benefits & Discounts

Membership may include additional perks and discounts, which are subject to change with one month’s notice. These currently include:

  • 10% discount in Café Grand and on hotel accommodation rates, applicable to the member plus one guest only.
  • Exclusive third-party partner discounts (such as with Bramble & Bee and The Studio) available to members only.

Discounts are intended as a personal benefit and cannot be extended to larger groups. The discount applies only to the member and one accompanying guest. For restaurant bills, the discount cannot be applied to full table totals that include non-members. Staff reserve the right to refuse or amend discounts that fall outside this policy.

11. Guest Access to the Leisure Club

Members may bring guests to use the Leisure Club facilities for a guest fee of £15 per visit, payable on entry.

  • The guest fee is subject to change with one month’s notice.
  • All guests must be accompanied by the member and comply with the club rules.
  • Members are responsible for the conduct and safety of their guests while on the premises.
  • The club reserves the right to limit guest access during busy periods or special events.

12. Changes to Facilities or Terms

We may update these terms or make reasonable changes to facilities, opening hours, or services. Any significant changes will be communicated in advance via email or website updates. A minimum of one month’s notice will be given for any material change to pricing, opening hours, or included benefits.

13. Data Protection

We respect your privacy and handle all personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
