When Passion Meets Place: Our Friuli Wine Dinner with Monviert
There's something magical about discovering a new winery through the eyes of someone who truly understands wine. When our friends at EWGA introduced us to Monviert, a family estate nestled in Friuli's Colli Orientali, we knew immediately this was a story worth sharing with our guests.
The Zorzettig family have been working their corner of northern Italy since the end of the Second World War, watching seasons turn and vines mature on the same hillsides their grandparents once tended. It's the kind of generational devotion that creates wines with real character, bottles that tell stories of marl soils and morning mists rolling through the valleys.

The Story Behind the Evening
EWGA don't just supply wine, they curate experiences. They understand that behind every great bottle is a family, a place, a philosophy. When they suggested we work with Monviert's range, we tasted immediately why they were so excited. These aren't just wines, they're liquid postcards from one of Italy's most underrated regions.
Friuli's Colli Orientali DOC region sits in the foothills of the Italian Alps, where cool mountain air meets warm Mediterranean breezes. It's this unique microclimate, combined with diverse soils ranging from marl to gravel, that gives Monviert's wines their distinctive character. Each bottle reflects not just the grape variety, but the very essence of this remarkable terroir.

Meet Your Wine Guides
We're thrilled to welcome two exceptional wine experts who'll be joining us for the evening. Ricardo Isetti from Monviert winery brings the passion and knowledge that only comes from working directly with the vines and vintages. His insights into the winemaking process and the philosophy behind each bottle will add depth to every sip.
Alongside Ricardo, we'll have Adrian Moeckell from EWGA, whose expertise in Italian wines and talent for storytelling will help bridge the connection between vineyard and glass. Together, they'll guide us through an evening of discovery, sharing the stories, techniques and traditions that make these wines so special.
The Menu
Our chef has spent weeks crafting a four course menu that celebrates both local and Italian influences. Each dish has been designed to complement and enhance the selected wines, creating those magical moments where food and wine elevate each other to something greater than the sum of their parts.
The evening's menu will showcase seasonal ingredients and expert technique, with dishes that allow both our kitchen's creativity and Monviert's winemaking artistry to shine. From delicate appetisers through to rich mains and perfectly balanced desserts, every course tells part of the story we're sharing together.

The Wines We'll Discover
The various nuances of the Colli Orientali del Friuli are perfectly represented by the Monviert line, which expresses the wide variety of fragrances and aromas released by the different terrains on which the vines grow, From marl to gravel, passing from the foothills and clayey zones, Martagona embodies all the nuances of this rich and diversified land, we'll be sampling four carefully chosen wines that showcase the diversity and quality of their estate:
- Monviert Sauvignon Blanc, Friuli Colli Orientali DOC - Crisp and aromatic with the mineral backbone that Friuli whites are famous for
- Monviert Chardonnay, Friuli Colli Orientali DOC - Elegant and refined, showing the finesse possible in these hillside vineyards
- Monviert Pinot Nero, Friuli Colli Orientali DOC - Delicate yet complex, capturing the essence of this noble grape in Friuli's unique terroir
- Monviert Merlot, Friuli Colli Orientali DOC - Rich and structured, showing how international varieties thrive in Italian hands
