It's official. The 156th Open Championship will be played at Royal Lytham & St Annes from 30 July to 6 August 2028, and the golfing world is already taking notice.

For those of us lucky enough to call the Fylde coast home, this isn't just big news. It's a moment we've been waiting for. The last time The Open came to Lytham was 2012, when Ernie Els lifted the Claret Jug in what remains one of the Championship's most dramatic finales. Sixteen years later, it returns and with it comes everything that makes The Open unlike any other sporting event on the planet.
