1st March signifies the official start of Spring according to the meteorological calendar however the weather does not seem to have received the message. Its icy cold out on St Annes Promenade but it looks fantastic. The 'beast from the east' continues to cause chaos in the UK as the country experiences its coldest week in five years. Hundreds of schools were still closed on Wednesday and there was severe disruption on the rail network.
Temperatures have dropped below -5 degrees Celsius outside, making for a beautiful winter wonderland scene on St Annes Promenade. The Promande garden ponds, fountains and waterfalls have all frozen over, its something we haven't seen for years on the Fylde coast. Here are a few images of the Promenade Gardens just opposite the hotel.
